I'm actually quite sad that today is the last of our Guild Hunters Ball, a blog event where Rachel & I have been celebrating our latest paranormal series read, the Guild Hunters series by Nalini Singh. We kicked things off by sharing our overall series reviews, followed by spotlighting our favorites. I'm particularly excited to share today's post, which will feature two things: the fictional characters I would trust to be a part of my own Seven and a playlist inspired by Raphael's Seven in the books.
You might be wondering: who are the Seven? The Seven are a group of skilled warriors who are undeniably loyal to Raphael and who share close-knit ties with one another. This group is actually one of my favorite aspects of the series, as it's so heartwarming to see them work together, play together and just come together for Raphael and for one another time and time again.
I resisted all temptation to pull only Guild Hunter series characters to create my own Seven. It would have been fairly simple to do it that way, and I wanted to challenge myself just a touch in creating a group of elite individuals who would be my warriors and my family. It took a lot of contemplation before I came up with my final list.
Shikamaru Nara | You've likely seen me mention this shinobi from the Naruto universe before, but picking him as my second was a no brainer. I'd trust him with any and all information, as well as my life. He'd definitely be the clever strategist with the sharp senses and authority to be a leader.
Illium | This blue-winged angel is the individual from the Guild Hunter series whose loyalty, love and respect I would prize the most. His playfulness, easy affection and inviting personality would be a welcome balm on my soul, and I'm sure his powerful skills as a warrior would never let me down.
Mereleona | I love a fiery warrior who will take no one's shit, and this powerhouse fighter from the Black Clover series definitely earned her spot in my Seven. Though I'm sure she'd occasionally wander off to do things her own way, if we had a mutual relationship built on respect and trust, I'd never fear her desertion.
Shota Aizawa | I wanted someone who could easily sneak around and be mobile on my Seven, and this teacher-slash-hero from My Hero Academia fits the bill. Not only would he be able to apprehend and disable folks at will, he'd also be an asset in terms of strategy and close combat when needed.
Lysandra | There's a specific reason that this fierce female from the Throne of Glass series would have a place on my Seven, but it's spoilery if I tell you outright. So, let's just say that she is not only smart, brave and capable, but she has a very specific skillset that's an asset in any situation for sure.
Magnus Bane | Would it be absolutely terrible to admit that I wanted this warlock from the Shadowhunters universe on my Seven mostlybecause he would provide levity to any situation? I do think he'd be a strong magical asset for the team, and we would just have a lot of fun together.
Annabeth Chase | I instinctively wanted to add a demigod to the group, and there's no one finer than the clever daughter of Athena from the Riordanverse in my book. She's definitely got wits and wisdom in spades, and also happens to be brave, level-headed and loyal once you've earned her trust.
Now that you've met the fictional characters I'd pick to make up my Seven, it's time for you to check out the playlist that Rachel & I crafted together for Raphael's Seven. Many of the songs we pick reminded us of the strength, love and loyalty of this group and, in some cases, there were lines that really reminded us of the individual members in particular. We're pretty proud of the end result, and we hope you enjoy it!
