I've been exclusively doing book hauls on our channel for the past couple of years, but I recently decided that I should start sharing them here on the blog again as well. I'm always excited about getting book mail, whether it's my own purchases or the exciting things that I get from the lovely folk at a variety of publishing houses. Without any more introduction, since we've got plenty to talk about, here's my May book haul! It's coming to you a little bit early, as Macky and I are both at BookExpo starting today and will have another haul up soon. (*All review copies mentioned in this post were provided by the specified publisher for free for feature and potential review.)
Purchased & Gifted
- We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal | I received a free finished copy from the publisher, and I also preordered the Barnes & Noble edition. It was a fun YA fantasy series starter inspired by ancient Arabia, features a quest & has a cast of characters that I really enjoyed getting to know.
- A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens | I've only ever read one novel by this author, but I picked up a gorgeous paperback edition of this story when I was in Paris with Rachel. I didn't just choose this for the cover; I also picked this Dickens novel because it's featured in the Shadowhunters novels.
- Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare | I've said it many times before, but Romeo and Juliet was the first ever Shakespeare play I read in full. I've had my eye on the Pelican edition of this play for a while, and I'm glad I finally snapped it up in Paris.
- Finale by Stephanie Garber | You may notice that there is not one, not two, but three copies in this stack... and I can't say I'm mad about it. I really enjoyed the entirety of the Caraval series, and this series ender was a roller coaster ride. The black & white spine is the FairyLoot exclusive edition, the purple spine is the Barnes and Noble exclusive edition and the red & white spine in the regular UK edition.
- Lovely War by Julie Berry | I. am. obsessed. with. this. book. I could leave it at that, really, but honestly, I have nothing but praise for the way this author wove mythology and historical fiction into one tale that I could not stop listening to once I started the audiobook.
- from Lili: City of Bones (10th Anniversary Ed.) by Cassandra Clare
- from Kristin: If I'm Being Honest by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka, Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young, The Lightning Thief + The Sea of Monsters + The Titan's Curse + The Battle of the Labyrinth + The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

ReplyDeleteI have heard so much about the whole Caraval series! Need to get into it! You have an awesome book haul and I found out about your blog through Twitter when I saw my friend Madalyn post a picture of you on BookCon! Are you going to BookNetFest? I feel like I have seen you before!
ReplyDeleteI've heard wonderful things about I Love You So Mochi! I look forward to seeing your thoughts. I've read Carval and Legendary, but meh. I don't think the series was for me. I do love all the amazing Finale covers though!
