I've been exclusively doing book hauls on our channel for the past couple of years, but I recently decided that I should start sharing them here on the blog again as well. I'm always excited about getting book mail, whether it's my own purchases or the exciting things that I get from the lovely folk at a variety of publishing houses. Without any more introduction, since we've got plenty to talk about, here's my April book haul! (*All review copies mentioned in this post were provided by the specified publisher for free for feature and potential review.)
Purchased & Gifted
- Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody | I took the opportunity to grab a copy of this when I attended a signing she was at, mostly because it's still one of my favorite underrated 2018 reads
- Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid | I ordered the beautiful Goldsboro edition after both Hannah and Rachel told me how much they loved this book! Planning to read it this month and hopefully, I will feel the same way!
- The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden | I was despairing of ever finding a copy of the UK hardback of this novel for a decent price, but I was alerted to the fact that they were rereleasing it and you can bet I snagged it real quick
- gifted by my friend Lili: Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
- Les Miserables by Victor Hugo | I couldn't resist picking up this edition when I found it for half off at The Strand! I still want to read this tome one day, if only to say I have and to be able to discuss with my cousin Carmela who has read it many times
- Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy | I know nothing about the actual plot of this novel, but I am very curious about the author and I want to see the film and this is a lovely edition and a perfect addition to my clothbound classics collection
- The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare | I have both the US edition and the beautiful Waterstones rune edition, simply because I am total trash for Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood (and I also really loved the book so damn much and can't wait for more)
- gifted by my friend Melanie: Mary Poppins, Mary Poppins Comes Back, Mary Poppins Opens the Door and Mary Poppins in the Park by P.L. Travers
- The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty | I read the first book in this series earlier this year and really enjoyed it! I was originally going to hold off on grabbing the second book, but caved because I live in perpetual fear that UK hardcovers will disappear on me.
- from our monthly Kinokuniya visit and preorders: I Want to Eat Your Pancreas by Yoru Sumino (art by Idumi Kirihara), Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Edition, Vol. 1 by Hiromu Arakawa, Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 17 by Mizuho Kusanagi
- An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld by Cassandra Clare (illustrated by Cassandra Jean) | After thoroughly becoming trash for the Shadowhunters universe, I just had to pick up a copy of this lovely illustrated tome that features the characters I know and love from the world (and has fun tidbits about them).
- from Tor Teen: When Summer Ends by Jessica Pennington
- from Rick Riordan Presents/Disney-Hyperion: Aru Shah and the Song of Death by Roshani Chokshi
- borrowed from Melanie: Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay
- from Berkley: Tightrope by Amanda Quick, The Bride Test by Helen Hoang, Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore, Well Met by Jen DeLuca
Digital Purchases & Review Books
- The Austen Playbook by Lucy Parker | I actually had this preordered for Kindle originally, but was lucky enough to win Lucy's last giveaway for an e-ARC of this book!
- from Inkyard Press: King of Fools by Amanda Foody
- from Harper Collins: A Constellation of Roses by Miranda Asebedo, The How & The Why by Cynthia Hand, The Never-Tilting World by Rin Chupeco
- from Page Street: Stronger Than a Bronze Dragon by Mary Fan, The Bone Charmer by Breeana Shields
