For such a short month, February was so dang busy. I feel like I was constantly out and about in the city (even though it was freezing at times) or I was preoccupied crossing off all of the things on my perpetual to do lists. Either way, the second month of the year proved to be a really fun one! From a spontaneous bowling night with my family to a weekend getaway upstate in a tiny house, from a full day of Galentines festivities to book events and date nights, February was a real treat.
Of the eighteen (!) books I read in February, my favorites were:
- Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young, a YA novel about a private boarding school where girls are raised to be the best society has to offer and where nothing is quite as it seems
- Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith, a contemporary YA read that features a cross-country train trip and two main characters who are working through some (relatable) things
- The Risk by Elle Kennedy, a NA contemporary romance featuring the Briar University coach's daughter, the star forward of a rival hockey team and a fake date-in-exchange-for-a-real-date agreement... among other things
- You'd Be Mine by Erin Hahn, a YA contemporary about two country artists on a summer tour together who are each forced to confront the demons in their pasts in order to figure out their future
- Roar by Cora Carmack, a YA fantasy novel about a princess without magic whose future was either the ruin of her kingdom or a betrothal to the strong prince from another kingdom... until she discovered there could be a third option: finding the magic she needs to rule and protect
