I had plenty of lazy days in January, friends. In my defense, I was fighting off illness for a good two weeks until I properly healed up and I go into hibernation mode in the winter because I'm not overly fond of the cold. But I still managed to squeeze in a couple of fun things, including a Dungeons & Dragons session with Macky, Kristin and Andrew and three different book signings.
Of the thirteen books I read in January, my favorites were:
- The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, an adult fantasy read centering around an individual named Kvothe as he recounts his life story to a chronicler
- The Blood Spell by CJ Redwine, a young adult fantasy retelling of Cinderella and a companion to the other books in the Ravenspire series
- The Bride Test by Helen Hoang, an adult contemporary romance featuring an autistic male character and an immigrant female character and a companion to last year's The Kiss Quotient
- The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty, an adult fantasy that follows one woman's journey to the legendary city of Daevabad, one prince's struggle with his beliefs and his reality, and the political maneuverings and magical mayhem they both must face
- King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo, the first of the new Grishaverse duology that centers around Nikolai and his story after the events of the previously released series
