I've already talked about my Iceland trip (1, 2, 3), and ApollyCon 2018 in separate posts so I'm not going to be mentioning either of those events here. I'm solely going to be sharing what else I've been up to during the past month or so, and I'm really excited about it because there are a bunch of things I really want to tell you guys about!
First, let's take a moment to talk about Love, Simon. Holy moly, friends, this book-to-movie adaptation is one of my favorites I've ever seen! It really captures the spirit of the novel, has an incredible cast (who were perfect in their roles, I'd say!), features a pretty epic OST (that I can't stop listening to) and I'm already dying to see it again. I would highly recommend checking it out, and then getting your friends and family to check it out as well because it's one damn good film. I was personally lucky enough to attend an early screening, thanks to my lovely friend Kristin of Super Space Chick, and I'm so glad for that.
Speaking of incredible films, I finally saw Black Panther. It was just as brilliant as everyone said it was! Stunning visuals, A+ effects and technology, well-written story, talented cast - I just thought everything came together perfectly to give viewers one hell of a film experience. It is, by far, my favorite of all the Marvel movies... and I actually went to see it again a little over a week later.
I also have to stop and mention Yona of the Dawn and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as my two latest additions to the anime obsessions roster. I loved Yona of the Dawn, which is a show that Macky and I impulsively binge watched over the course of a weekend. It's a really good story, with interesting lore and lovable characters, and I'm so obsessed with it. I'm going to be diving into the manga, but I'm praying that the anime will continue on (as it's currently on hiatus *sobs*). As for FMA, we only started it recently, but we are slowly but surely falling in love with it. It was too easy to get invested in the story (the world is interesting! the story is intriguing!), but the characters (particularly our favorite, Alphonse) are really what drew us in. Can't wait to keep going!
Just this last week, I got a chance to see James Bay perform live again at Brooklyn Steel. It's my fourth time seeing him perform live, and he just continues to get better and better. It's incredible to watch him on that guitar and to hear him sing (he always puts a new spin on his tracks!), and I'm so glad that I had the chance to see him live again. Can't wait till the next time (in September)!
Other things that have happened? I got new candles (Please check out Canterbury Road Co. if you haven't already because Shannon's candles are awesome! Plus, you can use ALEXA17 for 17% off your order!), had tea at Alice's Tea Cup with Lili, ventured out to have ice cream at Stax with Rachel, visited my favorite cat Hatchie and saw some old college friends! I'm currently in London now with my sister Melissa, but you'll hear all about that in another post...
What have you been up to lately?
1) I'm so glad we got to see Love, Simon together<3 2) That ice cream looks delicious 3) I'm planning on starting Yona of the Dawn this week! and 4) your candle came out perfect!!!
