I'm really excited that Rachel of Hello, Chelly and I have teamed up once more to bring you a brand spanking new collaboration that involves two of my favorite things - New York City and food. We're proud to introduce Table for Two, where the two of us will be highlighting restaurants and dessert spots in New York City. You'll be hearing our personal opinions on the place and the food, as well as where you can go to try it out for yourself! This month, I'll be talking about The Wren while Rachel tells you about Taiyaki.
Rachel & I visited The Wren for brunch recently. It's an adorable little place, filled with natural wood and plants for decor - which is right up my alley aesthetic-wise. It was a little darker than I would have liked (since I prefer natural lighting), but nothing that the ambient lighting couldn't help with! We were shown to a little table near the back of the restaurant, which was in a quiet corner and located near the kitchens. For a while, until people were seated to our right and left, it felt like we had our own private dining room.
We both had coffee, a brunch tradition for us, though I had a cappuccino and Rachel had their house coffee (served in a French press!). We shared the thick cut bacon and ricotta toast (which was incredible, especially with the rosemary-infused honey), and I chose to have the Wren breakfast burger for my main course (which was delicious, though the serving was a little too much for me in the end since I couldn't finish it). It was a lovely little breakfast for us both, and I would certainly go back again if the opportunity presented itself!
