The Love-a-Thon is an annual event that has been running since 2012, and it's continued to grow in the five years since then. It's meant to encourage positivity, form and strengthen relationships and to just be a whole lot of fun. This year, I'm co-hosting with Cee of The Novel Hermit, Kristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy! (P.S. If you're only discovering this event today, please know that you're still welcome to sign up to be a part of it!)
I'm really excited about my second challenge for this year! I've been doing a couple of features in the last year that focus on pairing books with music (see here and here), and I wanted to do something similar for the Love-a-Thon this year. My second challenge invites all participants to dedicate a love song (or two) to their favorite book character (or two) in whatever form you want to!
P.S. If you want to be entered in the giveaway for this challenge, please link us to your post for the challenge down below. Don't fret if you're not awake yet, as the linky will be open through February 20!
My personal take on this challenge has a slight twist. Instead of dedicating songs to my book boyfriends (which is honestly what I intended to do), I wound up picking songs that reminded me of some of my favorite book couples. So, this is the "I Will Sing Your Ship Home" version of the challenge, and I hope you enjoy it!
The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas / Gravity by Sara Bareilles
Something always brings me back to you. It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do, I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons / I Was Made for Loving You by Tori Kelly + Ed Sheeran
Please don't scar this young heart. Just take my hand.
I was made for loving you, even though we may be hopeless hearts just passing through.
Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas / Breathless by The Corrs
So, go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless.
Tempt me, tease me, until I can't deny this loving feeling.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor / Burn with You by Lea Michele
But I don't wanna go to heaven if you're going to hell.
I will burn with you.
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins / All or Nothing by O*Town
I've had the rest of you; now I want the best of you. I don't care if that's not fair.
'Cause I want it all or nothing at all.
Shuffle, Repeat by Jen Klein / Crazy for this Girl by Evan and Jaron
She's got me thinking about her constantly, but she don't know how I feel.
And as she carries on without a doubt, I wonder if she's figured it out, I'm crazy for this girl.
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson / Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts
This much I know is true: that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.
The Architect of Song by A.G. Howard / My Immortal by Evanescence
And I held your hand through all of these years.
But you still have all of me.
How to Love by Katie Cotugno / When We Were Young by Adele
My God, this reminds me of when we were young.
Let me photograph you in this lightt in case it is the last time that we might be exactly like we were
The Deal by Elle Kennedy / Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer
Lift your open hand, strike up the band and make the fireflies dance,
Silver moon's sparkling, so kiss me.
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson / Only Us by Laura Dreyfuss and Ben Platt
What if it's us and only us and what came before won't count anymore or matter
Can we try that?
The Geek's Guide to Unrequited Love by Sarvenaz Tash / If You Ever Want to Be in Love by James Bay
I'll come around if you ever want to be in love
I'm not waiting, but I'm willing if you call me up
Also, just for fun, I decided to film a video for this in the style of The Playlist Book Tag (created by Little Red Reader), though I had created a specific playlist before I hit shuffle for it. Hope you guys enjoy it! (P.S. There's actually a bonus pairing in the video!)
