It's here, it's here, it's here! I'm always super pumped whenever this time of year rolls around, because it's when I can officially say this: The Love-a-Thon is here! In case you didn't already know, the Love-a-Thon is an annual February event that encourages the bookish online community to spread some positive vibes, strengthen friendships, form new relationships and have fun along the way. This year, I'm excited to be co-hosting with my friends Cee of The Novel Hermit, Hazel of Stay Bookish & Mel of The Daily Prophecy! We're really looking forward to sharing all of our hard work with you, and are so excited to see this event on all sorts of platforms - blogs, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube! (P.S. If you're only hearing about the event today, you're still welcome to sign up!)
Get excited, folks, as an old favorite is back! We'll be doing another round of book spine poetry for this year's Love-a-Thon. If you don't know what that is, it's basically taking a few of your favorite book titles and arranging them to form a poem. You can simply type out the titles, take a photo of the book spines or design a collage. Creativity is encouraged! (If you want samples, check out my 2013 poems, my 2014 poems and my 2015 poems!)
P.S. Link up on my blog in order to be entered in the giveaway for this challenge! (If you're not awake yet, don't fret! The linky will stay open until the event officially ends on February 22, so add yours any time before then.)
I'm a huge fan of the traditional presentation of book spine poetry. This basically means I pick out the actual copies of books, arrange them into what I feel is a good poem, and then snap a photo! I'm so excited to share with you the three poems that I've managed to come up with this year.
Just listen.
Hello, goodbye and everything in between -
every last word something real,
things I can't forget.
days of blood and starlight
the burning sky
the bronze horseman
the beautiful and the cursed
uprooted
open road summer, also known as:
how to love madly under a painted sky.
Hope you enjoyed reading the poems as much as I enjoyed creating them for all of you! The third one is probably my favorite for this year, though I love them all. Which is your favorite? Do you like doing book spine poetry?
