Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up
Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.
Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.
What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.
As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started? (from Goodreads)
Boomerang is, without a doubt, the type of new adult novel that I want to read. It reads like a romantic comedy in book form, and since I'm a huge rom-com fan, this is totally up my alley! It made me laugh, it made me swoon, it made me wish for that elusive happily ever after for Mia and Ethan. Basically, Boomerang is pure entertainment for this reader - and in the best ways!
Nothing, I tell you, can make a romance more appealing than the two people involved in it being equally appealing as individual characters. In Boomerang, the main couple, Ethan and Mia, were both so solidly written. Mia was independent and clever, incredibly passionate about what she wanted out of life, and very tight with her family. Ethan too, is close with his family, smart and talented, but he's also passionate about soccer and such a gentleman. (Is my crush obvious?)
I loved them both, so shipping them romantically was a no brainer! I was dying over the constant thread of romantic tension that permeated each of their interactions, and definitely swooned quite a bit too. Seriously, this romance might have a hint of rom-com cliche to it, but I loved these characters and their relationship so much that it totally didn't bother me in the least.
Even though there's a certain level of predictability, I can say that I fully enjoyed Boomerang without a doubt. Like all the romantic comedy couples in my favorite films, I was rooting for Ethan and Mia from the very beginning - and being alternately amused and frustrated and pleased by their circumstances. If you're looking for an NA read that's fun, sexy and funny, Boomerang is definitely one book I'd direct you to.
I want to read this book SO MUCH. I can't wait to grab it pretty soon! It seemed like for a while there, there was a ton of hype surrounding it so I was a little afraid that would affect how much I enjoyed the story but I think I'm pretty safe now! I love the things you've mentioned here. Rom-coms are not my *favorite* but if they're well-done, I always LOVE them. (I think I've read some ick-sters in the past that have made me cautious.) I KNOW that this one will be great, though, because all of my reading friends have really raved about it. And I haven't really read a good contemporary romance in a while, believe it or not! Thanks for reminding me of this one, Alexa!! (:
ReplyDeleteSo happy you loved this, too, Alexa! It's definitely one of my favorite New Adult books - I love that it's more of a romantic comedy than anything else, and that there's very little angst/drama. Ethan is such a sweetheart too! Can't wait for book 2 now.
ReplyDeleteLovely review!
Ooh I hadn't heard of this before. But your review makes me want to check it out. I'm new to reading NA but it's definitely one of my favorite genres now and this book seems like a perfect entry into it. - Anna (@lostbraincell)
