Gayle Forman Read-Along || Where She Went, Wrap-Up Post

Where She Went - Gayle Forman
I'm so pleased to be a part of the Gayle Forman Read-Along that my friend Brittany is hosting from June-September. We tackled Sisters in Sanity with Judith, and have just finished If I Stay with Candice. And now it's my turn! I'll be covering Where She Went, the sequel/companion novel to If I Stay over the next month.

If you're interested in finding out more about the read-along, or signing up to join us, feel free to check out Brittany's kick-off post. There are three books left (Where She WentJust One Day and Just One Year) so there's plenty of time (and reading material)!

First, the schedule for the remaining week:

August 15-21: Chapters 1-6
August 22-28: Chapters 7-12
August 29-September 4: Chapters 13-18
September 5-11: Chapters 19-23

I can't believe we're finally at the end of my leg of the Gayle Forman read-along for Where She Went. It's been a wonderful four weeks, and I certainly that everyone enjoyed this book as much as I did. I was truly moved by Adam & Mia's journey, and I think this one edged out If I Stay for second place in my list of Forman books (Just One Day still owns the first place spot!).

For the last time, here are my answers to the questions from last week's post. Please leave me the links to your posts if you're taking part in the discussions, just so that I can check them out too!

1. In friendships or relationships, the two people in question have a common obsession most of the time. For Adam and Mia, it's music. Tell me about an example of that in your own life, whether that be with your lover, best friend or family!

Most of my relationships were formed because of a common obsession. My now-husband (!) and I share a love for books, which is a wonderful thing because he understands my book-related obsessions and quirks. One of my best friends and I were equally obsessed with the Harry Potter series, which has resulted in some crazy adventures (like going to throw Daniel a mini-party at the stage door for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying). It's fun to share obsessions with the people I love!

2. Adam's knowledge of Mia's obsession with music was what prompted his split second decision to play Yo Yo Ma to remind her of it. How do you feel about their relationship armed with this new knowledge?

This situation basically screams intimacy to me. I love that Adam knows Mia so well, so deeply to the point that he recognizes that this is what will bring her back to him, to the world. To know someone that well is just a beautiful, beautiful thing.

3. A good cry is necessary sometimes. Do you agree or disagree?

I've always stuck by this theory! Sometimes, there's nothing quite as wonderful as just curling up and letting myself indulge in a good cry. It's cathartic and freeing and you just feel extremely light after indulging in one. I'd highly recommend everyone indulge in one periodically... guy and girl alike.

4. Mia's big revelation -- her gift to Adam -- changes everything. With this new knowledge, how do you feel about Mia?

I seriously just wanted to cry! It was such a touching moment, honestly, and it just reaffirmed how much Mia really loved Adam. I loved that the depth of her feelings spanned time and distance, and that there was still this certain level of commitment between them. The gift was completely unexpected, but just as it meant everything to Adam, it was certainly a turning point for me too.

5. What so you think lies in the future for Adam and Mia? Will their history -- together and apart -- affect it in anyway?

They will always have that history looming in their past, but I seriously think that they will reach a point where everything will be forgiven and forgotten. I predict a happy future for these two, making lots of beautiful music together -- and possibly having little Adams and Mia.

Thanks for joining me as I read Where She Went. We've finally reached our last week, and again, I hope you've all enjoyed your read of Where She Went!
