It's been a while since I've hosted a giveaway on the blog, so I'm pleased to be joining in on the Fall Into Romance hop hosted by The Romance Reviews. Since the time I picked up my first Garwood novel (The Secret), I've been hooked on romances -- and I feel like I don't get nearly enough of a chance to talk about them on the blog. The hop is open from 12:00am EST on September 13 to 11:59pm on September 21!
So today, I'm going to spotlight one of my favorites, an oldie but a goodie, that I've never had a chance to review on the blog. This is a book I read in my pre-blogging days, and one romance that I've been consistently obsessed with and gone back to multiple times since. What is this book? Ransom by Julie Garwood.
Honestly, this book just wow-ed me. I was quite impressionable when I first read this, so that might have been part of the reason that the story stuck with me. Filled with dashing exploits, a misunderstanding of the gravest kind, a spunky, good-hearted heroine and an infuriating, but swoony hero, this book just won me over immediately. I immediately loved the heroine Gillian, who had a gentleness and kindness and a stubborn personality. I was also won over by the hero Brodick, a strong, handsome, caring man who we discover has a good heart. Their love story is pretty epic, and unexpected, and generally just wonderful.
And now, for the giveaway! I'll be giving away one copy of Ransom to my readers, as it's one of my all-time favorite historical romances. Even better news -- this giveaway will be open internationally, as long as Book Depository ships to you! To enter the giveaway, please use the Rafflecopter form below:

I love the historical romances by Alexandra Ripley especially On Leaving Charleston, but I get so sucked in by all her novels.
ReplyDeleteBig fan of historical romances, find myself always going back to them.
ReplyDeleteCourtney Milan is my favorite historical romance author.
ReplyDeleteI read Grave Mercy this year and loved it!
ReplyDeleteALEXA. I DONT HAVE ONE. A favorite historical romance. So hey. I have to read one. :) Thanks for the link to that romance website. I had no idea it existed! xo
ReplyDeleteDoes Pride & Prejudice count? maybe not. um...I'll take Colin & Penelope in Julia Quinn's Romancing Mr. Bridgerton...or Sebastian & Evie in Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas...that's a great question!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite historical series is the Simply Quartet series by Mary Balogh and the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn (especially Romancing Mr Bridgerton).

I own a few Julie Garwood books, but I don't think I've read one of them yet. My favorite historical romance is probably Honor Bound by Brenda Novak. It's a pirate romance, but the "pirate" is a noble sea captain and love happens the normal way, not the rape-turns-to-love way. And there's a lot of adventure and suspense as well. I love romances on the high seas!

I haven't read too many historical romances so I don't have a favorite one.
ReplyDeleteThe Wedding by Julie Garwood
ReplyDeleteI love Julie Garwood's historicals! They are some of my favorites. Ransom is great! I also have a very soft spot for The Secret (Judith and Iain!!!) and The Wedding (because it was the first Garwood I read). Oh and I love Honor's Splendor and Saving Grace and Castles! Okay, I pretty much love all her historicals except that one she wrote a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI can't pick only one so I'll go with an Author :D Eloisa James!
ReplyDeleteAly @ Aly's Miscellany
I adore historicals, and there are so many wonderful authors who have written great ones, but my favorite is Captain's Surrender by Alex Beecroft.
