The Monday Mix (07)

While I did enjoy doing A Sunday Retrospective, I've made the decision to stop posting on the weekends. I rarely open up my laptop during that time, and I'd prefer to keep it that way. The only thing that made me really sad was the fact that I would no longer have an outlet to share my favorite links from the past week. I mourned that for all of ten seconds before realizing that I could just start a new feature - and so, The Monday Mix was born.

The Monday Mix basically gives me the opportunity to share with all of you the links I loved online from last week, everything from reviews to articles about writing and perhaps other things too. I've always valued the opportunity to share the great things I've read or seen, and this is my way to share the love.

I've been keeping busy lately, which is wonderful for making the months go by. Even though I do think that they're going by too fast, I do love the fact that it's getting closer to August (which is when I leave for the Philippines) and September (which is when I'm getting married)! Last week, I attended the YA Icons tour at Books of Wonder with Gaby, Rachel D. and Rachel K. on Monday. Then on Wednesday, I watched Once with Gaby and Pat. Other than that, I've been productive and cleaned up my parts of the apartment in preparation for BEA and Elena coming to stay!

Yes, BEA week approaches - and I'm SO excited. It's going to be fun to see all the authors, publicists and friends at all the events I'm attending! (Speaking of which - do you want me to put up a post showing you guys which events you will find me at? Just let me know in the comments.)

And now, here are a few posts that caught my eye last week. I didn't do a lot of blog reading, so it's fairly short this week!

1. If you're wondering how to tell if you're addicted to reading, you can check out this Buzzfeed post about some signs of this condition. The awesome girls from Epic Reads are in there (at #22)!

2. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon is a book that I'm pretty darn excited about. Why don't you check out the cool book trailer?

3. Susan Dennard (author of Something Strange and Deadly) shares about how you can trust your writing AND your critique partner.

4. I am absolutely in LOVE with this post from Nova Ren Suma (author of 17 & Gone) about outlining, and how it works for her as writing before the writing. I'm still not sure which works better for me, but I do love a good outline...

5. Rachel Seigel shares some pretty great thoughts on writing reviews. I actually absolutely agree with the advice she had to offer!

I wanted to add a new aspect to The Monday Mix. Since I'm an avid Twitter user, I thought sharing my top tweets of the week would be fun. Every week, I'm going to pick one author/publisher/bookstore tweet and one blogger tweet that I personally really liked. This week, I'm going to have to miss it because I haven't really been on Twitter. I'll make up for it soon though, I promise!

And in case you missed it, here are my posts from last week:

I shared my interview with Ednah Walters for the Runes blog tour.
Rocked proved to me I could find Bigfoot fascinating. I never saw that coming!
I wrote about the final book of the Unearthly trilogy - Boundless - this week. (Spoiler: SO GOOD.)
If you're looking for a summer read, Nantucket Blue is pretty darn good.
For my personal weekly update, I shared about the YA Icons event and Once!

I hope you enjoy reading these posts as much as I did! Now it's YOUR turn - are there any posts (on your blog or other blogs) from last week that I missed out on? Please feel free to share links in the comments and I'll try to check them out.
