Ladies and gentleman, girls and boys, bloggers and booklovers, booksellers and book connoisseurs – welcome to PierceFest!
PierceFest is the brainchild of a conversation between me, Gaby (of Queen Ella Bee Reads), Gillian (of Writer of Wrongs) and Rachel (of Rachel Reads). We bonded over our mutual love for Tamora Pierce and her books, and started reminiscing about the good old days when we devoured every novel she had to offer us. Even though Ms. Pierce is a well-known name, we certainly felt like it would be a fun idea to celebrate Tamora Pierce and her amazing novels – and thus, PierceFest was born!
During PierceFest, we will be celebrating all the books Ms. Pierce has written that have been published so far (and that’s a grand total of 27, not including her short story collection). Each month, one of the hosts will be spotlighting a series on her blog. There will be reviews, discussion posts, polls and other special and fun posts! There will also be one amazing giveaway (which you’ll find out more about later).
PierceFest will be running from May-September, finishing up in time for the release of Battle Magic in October. The actual schedule is as follows:
May: Kick-off Post (this is it!) + Song of the Lioness quartet (hosted by Gillian)
June: The Immortals quartet (hosted by Gaby)
July: Circle of Magic/Circle Opens/Circle Reforged (hosted by Alexa - that's me!)
August: Protector of the Small (hosted by Rachel)
September: Trickster duo/Beka Cooper trilogy + Wrap-up Post (all 4 blogs)
The easy answer to this, of course, is to read along with us as we tackle each series! If you’re a Pierce newbie, then this will be the perfect time for you to start reading the series and getting to know her work. And if you’re a long-time Pierce fan, this will be a fun avenue to discuss the books and the characters and the general awesomeness that surrounds Tamora Pierce! Either way, we hope you join us. You can use the official hashtag #PierceFest when chatting on Twitter about all things Tamora Pierce – we’ll be around and ready to chat with you!
If you’re interested in participating in the event in a contributor capacity, please feel free to send an email. For general inquiries and the like, you can email me [ alexalovesbooks (at) gmail (dot) com ]. For specific series info or interest, you can go and email the various hosts in charge of that series.

We sincerely hope you'll join us in celebrating our love of all things Tamora Pierce during PierceFest. It's bound to be lots of fun!
We're not the only huge Tamora Pierce fans out in the blogging community. It's wonderful to realize that there are so many of us who love her. Here's what a few other people had to say about Ms. Pierce - and you better believe it's all good things!
Jen from Almost Grown-Up: "Kick-ass female heroines, unbelievable levels of world-building, and magic that enthralls. What's not to love about Tamora Pierce's work?"
Amy from Tripping Over Books: "It took me some time to find my way to Tamora Pierce, and I'm both so glad that I finally did and sad that I didn't find her sooner. Her stories are full of young girls and young women defying the expectations of their gender and forging their own paths; they're so special. Spending time with Tamora's characters in Tortall--a vibrant, well-fashioned world--is one of my favorite things to do."

Anna from I Am Here For This: "I've been reading and re-reading Tamora Pierce's books since I was twelve, and 15 years later, she's remains #1 on my list of Authors Whose New Books I Will Buy & Read Immediately. She taught me both to love high fantasy and to appreciate the unique pleasure of reading about smart, talented, willful women and girls who do amazing things, and if I ever get to meet her in person, I fully expect to burst into tears."
Sarah (Twitter handle: @SarahO97): "I first fell in love with Tamora Pierce's books by randomly discovering the Immortals series in my local library at the age of 12. Ever since, I've found myself enamored with the magical realm of Tortall and its inhabitants."
Ellie from Book Revels: "Tamora Pierce has been one of my favorite fantasy authors for years. With every series, she gives her readers strong, independent female heroines who change the world simply by being who they are. These women love and fight and protect. They know who they are and they go after what they want. I love rereading these ladies' kickass stories."

Hnm so that means I should read some Tamora Pierce eh? Eep! But seriously I have heard so much greatness about this author I really have to see what everyone's going on about for myself! :)
ReplyDeleteI really do hope you get the opportunity to read something by Tamora Pierce! She's a wonderful author, and I enjoy her strong heroines. Her world (in her books) is AMAZING.
Delete*dances* *prances* *basically does all things celebratory*
ReplyDeleteWe need cupcakes. And confetti. And fireworks. And now... *DANCE PARTY*
DeleteI AM SO EXCITED I COULD DIE OVER IT.
ReplyDeleteI woke up today and the first thing I thought was - PIERCEFEST IS FINALLY HERE! I am SO EXCITED.
DeleteI am so, so, so excited about this, my gawd. As if I don't do enough flailing re: Tamora Pierce on my own, now I'll have five months of reminders of how great she is. YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be an awesome five months! I definitely hope you join us, and am so thankful that you're super excited too :D
DeleteI have never read anything by Tamora Pierce! Eek! I remember back in high school someone told me about her books, but I just sort of shrugged them off. It seems I'm missing out though! Time to change that!
ReplyDeleteI was late to the Tamora Pierce fan club; I only read her books when I was in college. You should definitely give them a try! Her worlds, her stories, her heroines - they're all really really amazing.
DeleteI'm so excited for PierceFest! I've been a fan for years!
ReplyDeleteI AM SO EXCITED! I hope you join in with us, and help spread the Tamora Pierce love to all the corners of the internet ;)
DeleteI am a long time Tamora Peirce fan! I found my first Peirce books, Wolf Speaker and The Woman Who Rides Like A Man while exploring my local library as a kid. HOOKED! 27 books and lots of fanfit role playing latter and I'm still hooked.
ReplyDeleteYAY FOR BEING A FELLOW TAMORA PIERCE FAN! *cheers for you* Honestly, it's always fun for me to meet fellow Pierce fans. I LOVE Tamora Pierce, and am making this event my excuse to indulge in her books (ALL OF THEM). Hope you do join us!
DeleteRebecca (the post above mine) and I wouldn't have ever met if not for our shared love of Tamora Pierce! My cousin introduced me to her when I was 12 and she's quickly become one of my major role models. I'm pumped for PierceFest and despite not having a blog, I'd love to help out and look forward to participating.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE that you and Rebecca met because of Ms. Pierce. That's an AWESOME story (and perhaps a possible post in the works for this event)! I would be delighted to have you participated in PierceFest, and will try to send an email your way this weekend.
DeletePierceFest is such an awesome idea! Who doesn't love Tamora Pierce (...and if a person doesn't, it's probably because that person has yet to read anything by her). I've read all her YA books (not the Circle series because it felt a little too MG for me), and she's definitely an inspirational author when it comes to my beloved fighting female protagonists. Since I've read basically all of her series (most on many occasions), I think I'll just join in on the discussion posts when they come up. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE HER. I really, really love her. I've read most of what she's written (except the last two Beka Cooper books), and I really love it. Circle of Magic is actually my favorite series, if I'm being honest. I won't go into details, but I loved it!
DeleteDo I have to be a blogger to enter this? Or to participate?
ReplyDeleteBecause honestly my heart started racing when I read this post! WEEEEEE!
Not at all! There are people jumping in to do guest posts, reviews and the like for PierceFest - and they'll be hosted on one of our blogs. I would LOVE to have you join us and will send an email your way!
DeleteA newbie but I desperately want to read the Songs of the Lioness series!
