As always, this feature is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!
Anne Shirley - When I was very young, I remember reading about this vivacious redhead and her adventures. She always struck me as a girl who would be my best friend if I met her in real life, and I loved her vivid imagination and her curious nature.
Laura Ingalls Wilder - I was utterly fascinated by the series she wrote all about her life, and her family, and her friends, as she grew up. I thought the adventures of their day to day life were incredibly fascinating, and it was fun for me to grow up with Laura.
Tris Prior - I am not kidding when I say that I am a HUGE fan of the Divergent series. Tris is a completely refreshing character in that she's so complex. We get to see all sides of her in the first two books, and it amazes me how her bravery, strength and resiliency continue to shine.
Alanna - Ever since the fiance introduced me to the amazing Tamora Pierce, I've loved her books. While Daine is usually the female character I pick as my favorite, I have come to realize that Alanna - with her stubborn, determined nature, and interesting combination of feminine thinking and male physicality - is definitely a heroine I can get behind.
Hermoine Granger - I would definitely be remiss if I didn't include my favorite female from my favorite series on this list! Hermione's whip smart, fiercely loyal and incredibly brave. I admire the fact that she was never afraid to showcase her intelligence, and that she did her best to stand by all of her friends, even when the going got tough.
Honorable Mentions: Daine, Katniss, Eona & Katsa
katsa and katniss.<3

ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do Tamora Pierce. I think I'm just not sure where to start! But I hear she's amazing. Love Anne Shirley too ;) memories, lol.
ReplyDeleteyay anne shirley! but also love that you included tris and hermione granger. they would be on my list too :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love Hermione so much. She is totally amazing. I love that not only did she fight against voldemort, but she also fought for the rights of houseelves, even when no one at Hogwarts cared. Talk about kickass.
ReplyDeleteI love Hermione and Katniss both. Great list! Here is my TTT!

I'm so glad to see you are a Tamora Pierce fan! I love her Tortall books, and I can't ever seem to pick a favorite out of her heroines. I think right now it's leaning toward Alanna's daughter Aly, but it's so hard to choose. Great list, and good call on being picky. It was so hard for me to choose enough ladies to make it to ten.
ReplyDeleteomg i need to read some tamora pierce! i know i'll love alanna!! i mean, her name is close to elena. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, you seem to have strict criteria about what makes a kick-ass heroine! I also love Alanna (and Daine even more). I have yet to read Anne of Green Gables books, but I hear so many positive things about the series that I think I need to start soon!
ReplyDeleteI so need to read me some Tamora Pierce -- everyone loves her stuff! And YES LAURA INGALLS WILDER!!
ReplyDeleteYES, YES, YES to Tris and Hermoine. I seriously need to read some of Tamora Pierce's books.
