But how much to get the hot pitcher to notice you exist?
I was hoping to find another interesting young adult chick lit book - and I was sort of disappointed with The Boyfriend League. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
The premise was interesting enough - a group of baseball players are coming into town for games and they need host families. Our main character, Danielle, is interested in finding an ideal boyfriend and thinks that hosting a player will increase her odds at doing so. However, I felt like The Boyfriend League dragged on a bit too long for me. And the story was just kind of, well, forgettable.
I can appreciate the way it ends (and I'm not telling, but it's the pairing I was rooting for in the first place) though. I'm a sucker, most definitely, for happy endings. Plus, there is the bonus of Danielle's friend Bird, who's my favorite character (even moreso than Danielle herself). And really, honestly, Jason is probably the reason I stuck it out until the end - he's a cutie (at least the way I imagine him to be). I don't regret reading it, but I wouldn't read The Boyfriend League again.
